Hello! My name is Sauli Itzel Colio. I am a first generation student and I identify as a MeXicana. My gender pronouns are she, her, & hers. I first became involved on campus through the Chican@/Latin@ organization, MEChA. For two years, I served as one of the MEChA co-coordinator for the student initiated and student led outreach program, ORALE. Through my work with ORALE, I became more involved with the student initiated/student led outreach and retention center, Engaging Education (e^2). I then became involved with ChALE which is one of the retention programs housed under Engaging Education.

My work with outreach and retention has been key in influencing me to continue working on issues of diversity in higher education. Through my involvement I have not only worked on the outreach and retention of Latin@ students but I have had the opportunity to work with different communities.  It is important for us to understand that although our struggles are different, we still share similar stories. ¡La unión hace la fuerza! Unity makes us strong!

As the SUA Vice President of Diversity & Inclusion my duties include to keep a connection between the SUA, the Ethnic Resource Centers, Engaging Education, ethnic student organizations and other resource centers on and off campus. I plan on working on issues of diversity and helping improve the campus climate.

If you are interested in becoming involved with the SUA Office of Diversity & Inclusion please feel free to contact me at any time!
